Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Health Care Provider

The American Heart Association’s BLS course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED. Single rescuer and 2-person rescuer techniques for adults, children and infants will be covered. A written exam is required at the completion of this course.

Who should take this course?

This course is designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who require certification for renewal of their license and/or for their employment. Such individuals need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills in a wide variety of in-facility and prehospital settings. Although this course is designed for healthcare professionals, lay individuals can take this course if desired.
